I read this book a while ago, and still remember that stunned feeling that I had when I Discover the Plot. A very popular “Psychological Thriller” that delivers a chilling mix of mystery, emotion and a twist!
The story centers on Alicia Berenson, a famous painter who seems to have a perfect life with her husband Gabriel – until one night! She shoots Gabriel five times in the face and then completely stops speaking(crazyyy). No one knows why she did it. Since then, Alicia has lived in total silence, locked in a secure psychiatric hospital. Here comes the Theo Faber, a Psychotherapist who becomes fascinated by Alicia’s case. He believes he can make her speak again and uncover the truth behind the Crime. Theo takes a job at the hospital where she’s kept(!!) and determined to solve the mystery. As he gets closer to Alicia, he starts discovering unsettling secrets about her,….. and also about himself.
Narrative:
The story alternates between Theo’s investigation in the present and Alicia’s secret diary, written in the days before the murder. This dual narrative builds compelling suspense. These diary entries slowly reveal clues about what was happening in her life, building tension as the truth comes closer.
My Thoughts:
For me, The Silent Patient was a really good and engaging story. Once the mystery began to build, it completely drew me in and kept me turning the pages. Around 70% into the book, I started predicting how the plot might unfold. Even though I saw the twist coming, it still managed to surprise me — it was clever and well executed. I especially liked how everything came together in the end and how the author explored the psychology behind silence, guilt, and obsession.

You nailed the feeling of the twist. This was a fun read, keep posting!
